Kyndryl has launched a new technology hub in Liverpool aimed at creating up to 1,000 jobs in AI and software engineering over the next three years. This initiative supports the UK government’s strategy to implement AI across the nation and aims to foster local talent.

Peter Kyle, Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, noted that Kyndryl’s investment exemplifies how AI is contributing to economic growth, enhancing opportunities for communities throughout the UK. The new hub will feature Kyndryl Consult, which will provide a collaborative space for businesses to address complex challenges and implement advanced technologies.

Kyndryl is also expanding its partnership with The Very Group, a local digital retailer, through a multiyear agreement to strengthen the retailer’s digital capabilities. John Chambers, President of Kyndryl United Kingdom & Ireland, emphasized that Liverpool is becoming known for digital excellence and that this investment aims to nurture the necessary skills for accelerating AI adoption and driving economic growth.

Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, expressed that this investment reflects local ambition paired with national support to attract global investment, expecting it to create well-paid jobs and provide skills for future industries.

Kyndryl’s focus on hiring top talent through a new early careers program, which includes digital technology degree apprenticeships, indicates its commitment to addressing the demand for digital expertise crucial for economic progress. The hub is intended to seamlessly integrate mission-critical operations with business applications to facilitate digital transformations, aligning with the UK Government’s AI Opportunities Action Plan.
