NY Cannabis Insider is hosting an industry meetup in New York City on April 2 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Details and a limited number of tickets are available here. The evening will feature a special discussion with panelists who represent the biggest components of the adult-use ecosystem throughout the state: cultivators, processors, dispensaries, and laboratories. Opening remarks will be shared by Jenny Argie, one of New York’s first licensed cannabis processors, who recently sued the Office of Cannabis Management over claims that the agency acted in “retaliatory, arbitrary and capricious” ways.
This “State of the State” will dive into what’s working, what’s not, what needs to happen next, and what those looking to get into the industry should consider before making the leap.
There will be a chance for attendees to interact directly with the speakers during and after a Q&A, along with open networking time to meet others in the industry. This is a unique opportunity for attendees to hear from and understand the challenges/needs currently affecting the industry.
“This was one of the most informative events I have attended with a wonderful mix of industry stakeholders willing to share their experiences and knowledge,” said Jillian Dragutsky, past event attendee, CEO of Astro Management and co-chair of NY CAURD Coalition Women’s Committee.
Panelists sharing their perspectives include:
· Brittany Carbone has been an operator in NY’s cannabis space since 2017 as a brand leader, cultivator, and manufacturer. Brittany leads the all-female team at TONIC as the founder & CEO and is the co-founder of Tricolla Farms – a certified organic, family-owned farm that has been fueling TONIC products since 2018. Carbone is also vice president of the Cannabis Association of NY and leads the association’s Sustainability Committee.
· Brian Lane is one of the owners and compliance manager at NOWAVE in Rochester, NY. NOWAVE is a cGMP certified cannabis facility which has held a New York State hemp license since 2018. In his current role, Lane is responsible for the cGMP certification, licensing, and regulatory requirements to keep NOWAVE in good standing with New York State.
· Coss Marte co-founded CONBUD, which is looking to hire formerly incarcerated individuals to build a personal and impactful presence in the cannabis market through potential dispensaries that he’s looking to open under the CAURD program. He also founded CONBODY, a prison style bootcamp that has gained over 70,000+ clients and has hired 50+ formerly incarcerated individuals to teach fitness classes.
· Ellen Parkin has been working in the cannabis industry for nine years. After six years on the West Coast in quality management and laboratory director roles, Ellen joined the Green Analytics laboratory group, overseeing quality and operations for their NJ, NY, and PA locations. Ellen is currently serving as both regional quality director and lead technical director for the Green Analytics NY laboratory.
This limited-ticket event will bring together current and hopeful licensees, entrepreneurs, attorneys, politicians and more for an intimate discussion about the “state of the state” for the cannabis industry.
