NY Cannabis Insider, the leading platform for cannabis industry news and networking in New York State, is excited to announce the panel topic and speakers for our upcoming industry meetup and networking event on August 15 at Madam Miketteās in Manhattan.
Hear from tribal members and attorneys about the stateās past and present relationship with Native American nations, up to and including the recent legislative bill that aims to allow state-licensed cultivators and processors to sell cannabis to tribally licensed retailers.
Panelists include:
Lance White, a Mohawk cannabis entrepreneur from the territory of Akwesasne. White is the founder and president of Turtle Island Corporation and recently obtained a āfirst of its kindā Four Tier license from the tribal government in the New York portion of Akwesasne, which allows cultivation, extraction, retail sales and consumption under one roof.
Matt Leonardo is a member of Hinman Straubās Health Law and Government Relations departments and represents indigenous nations in his practice. Previously, Leonardo served as the lead attorney for health care financing at the Department of Health.
Joseph Bondy is a cannabis law and licensing attorney who also specializes in criminal defense. Bondy is on the board of directors for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) and is a vice president and board member of the Cannabis Cultural Association (CCA).
Building on the success of previous events, this gathering will continue to offer unique business-to-business networking opportunities. Entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and professionals from cannabis-adjacent businesses such as legal, security, retail, banking, finance, construction, engineering, business consultation, and the medical industry are invited to connect and discuss topics essential to the New York State cannabis industry.
