The Oregon State Bar has settled its case against Portland attorney Nick Slinde, issuing him a public reprimand for his role in a real estate scheme that siphoned investorsā money into a marijuana venture and cost a group of 47 Oregon retirees nearly $1 million in savings.
The settlement finds that Slinde engaged in misconduct because he failed to obtain consent for a conflict of interest from his client, the real estate firm, while simultaneously representing the marijuana business, in which Slinde held an investment stake. Years later, Slindeās stake would grow to be worth millions.
