The sale of marijuana for recreational use became legal in New Jersey in April 2022 with stores around the state opening immediately. But despite intense interest by entrepreneurs, it wasn’t until March of 2023 that buyers had any place to patronize in Hudson County.
Blame it on multiple bureaucratic hurdles and some opposition to individual sites in the nine Hudson municipalities that are allowing recreational marijuana stores.
