Angelo Kitkas is the founder and president of Flower Power Dispensers, a CAURD licensee planning to open a store on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. He answered eight simple questions for NY Cannabis Insider’s “People to know” series.

What is your position and what do you/your company do in the cannabis space?

I’m the founder and president of Flower Power Dispensers.

How long have you worked in the cannabis space?

Twenty-five years.

What did you do before you were involved in the cannabis industry?

I have been involved in the industry pretty much as long as I have been working. I am also a licensed electrician with my own company based out of Queens.

What led you to the cannabis industry?

I was introduced to cannabis as a teenager, and it was always something I bonded with my friends and family over. As a member of a legacy and traditional market, the plant has brought me all over the city and is at the foundation of many of my close relationships.

Do you have any advice for someone looking to get into the NY weed industry?

Do your homework, like reading NY Cannabis Insider. Surround yourself with patient, strong, and knowledgeable people. Understand the limits of your own knowledge. Trust your gut. Be prepared to wait but ready to sprint.

What do you think the NY cannabis ecosystem will look like in five years?

I still think New York is the most exciting global cannabis market. There will be thousands of retail and on-site licenses. The brands on their shelves will be the most popular around the world. The law will also allow for more license ownership, so we will be able to grow our business.

Do you use cannabis? If so, what’s your favorite method and why?

Yes. Flower, it’s my favorite way to consume cannabis.
