Re: Four ways AI could disrupt the federal public service, online, Oct. 1

As much as I am all in on the reduction of government workers, AI should not be used to replace literally hundreds of thousands of people who require those jobs to make a living in all sectors, not just the public sector.

While our population growth is unprecedented with the influx of immigrants, where are the jobs for them going to come from?

Time to stop and think about the pitfalls of increased technology and replacing workers.

Old knuckle-dragging tradesmen like myself are looking pretty safe, but who knows when that will change as well.

POLITICAL DEATH CULTS

Both the Liberal Party of Canada and the Republican party in the U.S. have been taken over and turned into cults.

The final death throes of the GOP/Trump party are evident in the infighting and the apparent wish to lose the upcoming election. The Liberal party has morphed into the Trudeau party and no longer seems to exist. Its day of reckoning is coming by next October.

In both cases, what were once honourable political parties will be burnt to the ground. Self-inflicted wound, anyone?

BLOCK THE BLOC

I am responding to two letters that appeared in letters to the editor on Sept. 27.

I agree with both writers, Glen Lapenskie and Ken Dawson. I don’t think the Bloc Québécois or the province of Quebec should have special consideration over the rest of the country. The Bloc should not be propping up Trudeau (or anyone else who becomes PM) since its ultimate goal is the complete separation of Quebec from Canada.

The sooner political reform is enacted to stop the Bloc (or anyone else), the better.

CARBON TAX BLAME GAME

Re: Just like long COVID, letter to the editor, online, Oct. 1

First, I feel comparing Justin Trudeau to long COVID is disrespectful to those who have been diagnosed.

Second, the carbon tax was implemented to protect the environment, and the higher price should deter people from gassing up. I feel we should stop blaming everything on someone else and team up to give ideas and solutions — what would you do? Maybe reducing income tax and sales tax is a better solution?

However, if you believe a Conservative government will be the solution, please really identify anything Pierre Poilievre has to offer for change; no solutions there!
