WINONA, Minn. (KTTC) – Over the past few years, we’ve seen the rapid growth of artificial intelligence, and a new job posting tool shows how fast A.I. careers are growing and how many jobs require A.I. skills.
The University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business recently launched the UMD-linkup A.I. maps.
This tool allows people to track job postings that require A.I. skills across the country.
According to the map, Minnesota is currently ranked 17 in the nation for new A.I. job postings in education services compared to 28 in December of 2024.
Steve Baule, the chair of Winona State’s leadership education department, teaches aspiring superintendents and principals. He also runs the educational doctorate program at the university.
As A.I. continues to move into the workplace, Baule believes that students should be informed about how to use A.I. tools, the ethical piece behind it, understand the data curation, and make sure to have human-A.I. collaboration.
“Not going to necessarily see huge job You’re going to see a lot of need, I think, for upskilling right, people are going to need to have more effective understanding of how to use technology, right? And there’s going to be a lot of new positions.”
Baule went on to say that employers are looking for candidates with basic data literacy skills.
While in the classroom, Baule does allow his students to use A.I. Students have to inform him, explain how it is being used, and what tools they’re using.
