IN THOUSANDS OF JOBS. THIS IS GOING TO BE A GREAT DAY FOR INDIANA COUNTY. IT’S A GREAT DAY FOR THE BUILDING TRADES. JUST TEN DAYS AGO, THE STACKS AND COOLING STATIONS AT THE HOMER CITY GENERATING STATION WERE DEMOLISHED. NOW THE SITE IS BEING TURNED INTO THE LARGEST NATURAL GAS POWER PLANT IN NORTH AMERICA. WE STARTED THIS. WE HAD KIND OF ONE MANTRA ON THE SITE, WHICH IS ONCE WE STARTED, WE WANTED TO SEE PROGRESS AND WANTED TO SEE THE SITE LOOK DIFFERENT. EVERY TIME SOMEBODY CAME TO VISIT. AND TODAY WAS A BIG STEP IN THAT. OFFICIALS SAY IT’S DESIGNED TO MEET THE GROWING AI AND HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING NEED OF TECH COMPANIES. THIS FORMER SITE, PICKED FOR A REASON THAT INFRASTRUCTURE IS JUST UNIQUELY SITUATED. IN ORDER TO SUSTAIN AND SUPPORT BUILDING A LARGE, THE LARGEST NATURAL GAS POWER PLANT IN THE COUNTRY, AND ALL OF THE DATA CENTERS AND OTHER EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES THAT ARE OUT THERE THAT ARE DEMANDING POWER. CONSTRUCTION ON THE SITE IS EXPECTED TO START THIS YEAR. IT WILL CREATE MORE THAN 10,000 CONSTRUCTION JOBS AND ABOUT 1000 POSITIONS IN TECHNOLOGY, OPERATIONS AND ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE. OFFICIALS ARE ALREADY LOOKING TO HIRE ALL OF OUR LABOR UNIONS ARE LOOKING FOR APPRENTICES. PLEASE APPLY. THE LOCAL JOBS WILL BE RIPPLE EFFECT JOBS AND THAT’LL BE, YOU KNOW, TO COME ON THE BUILDING TRADES END OF IT. WE’RE READY. WE’RE READY TO BUILD OUT. I’M READY TO TAKE KIDS RIGHT NOW. THE PLANT WILL HAVE ENOUGH GENERATING CAPACITY TO SERVE MULTIPLE LARGE DATA CENTER CUSTOMERS AND SUPPLY POWER TO THOUSANDS OF HOMES ON THE LOCAL GRID, AND THE SITE IS EXPECTED TO START PRODUCING POWER BY 2027.
