Newsom appoints judges in Solano and Mendocino counties

Charlotte Scott has been appointed a Mendocino County Superior Court judge, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office announced Oct. 22. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Cindee Mayfield.

Scott has served as County Counsel for Mendocino County since 2024. She has also served as Assistant County Counsel and Deputy County Counsel.  Scott had a solo practice for eight years, between 2008 to 2016, according to the news release.

She received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law.

Wendy Casas has been appointed a Solano County Superior Court judge, Newsom’s office also announced in the same news release. She fills a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Christine Carringer.

Casas has had a solo practice since 2018. She has served as a Deputy Public Defender at the Solano County Public Defender’s Office and the Kern County Public Defender’s Office.

Casas received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law.
