Netflix and eBay both revealed plans to slash hundreds of Bay Area jobs, adding to the thousands of regional layoffs already announced this year by tech companies.

eBay eliminated 229 positions on Oct. 21 at its 2025 Hamilton Ave. headquarters in the Willow Glen district of San Jose, according to a WARN notice filed with the state Employment Development Department.

Netflix cut 227 jobs on Sept. 14 at its Los Gatos headquarters at 121 Albright Way, a WARN notice showed.

So far in 2026, tech companies have revealed plans for nearly 14,500 layoffs in the Bay Area, according to a review of WARN notices.

That number already exceeds the 10,170 job cuts in the Bay Area by the tech industry during all of 2025, filings with the EDD show.
