BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – Husson University hosted the 21st Maine Chinese Conference Saturday.

Held at the Dyke Center for Family Business, attendees heard from educators, business leaders, government and school officials from all over New England.

This year, the theme was all about the application of artificial intelligence, or AI, to improve language learning and teaching, as well as assist in global connections, specifically between the United States and China.

The Maine Chinese Conference is organized by The Chinese Language and Culture Center of Maine (CLCC) as well as Bangor Chinese School.

With the tag line “Think globally, act locally”, organizers hope the conference emphasizes the potential of international collaboration and importance of multi-cultural conversations in our community.

“The Chinese school and the center are always trying to build up great relationship, cooperation between the two powers, through the quality Chinese language teaching. That’s our mission, so everything we’re doing is trying to contribute to that,” explains Jing Zhang, Director of CCLC of Maine.

Attendees were also able to peruse all of what the CLCC of Maine and Bangor Chinese School has to offer.

This includes Chinese lessons, trips to China for students and adults, Dragon Camp, and bilingual childcare that teaches younger children Chinese.
