Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) is offering two new Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Analytics programs for fall 2025.

Through the AI and Data Analytics Diploma, and the AI and Data Analytics Post-Baccalaureate Certificate, students will apply AI technology in developing innovative solutions for modern industry challenges, an RDP news release said.

Students can specialize in Machine Learning, Business Intelligence, or Bioinformatics.

“By fostering expertise in AI, we are preparing students to lead in this rapidly advancing field and help shape the future of technology,” said Dr. Robbie J. Halonen, Dean, Donald School of Business, Science and Computing. “These new programs will equip students with the necessary skills to meet the growing demand for expertise in this field and capitalize on the economic opportunities presented by artificial intelligence. Students will gain the skills to develop intelligent systems, drive data-driven decisions, and contribute to groundbreaking research and technological innovation in Alberta and beyond.”

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate program is designed for individuals who have existing degrees to add to their knowledge by specializing in machine learning and data analytics.

From the program, graduates will learn the skills to perform data engineering and visualization, and design AI solutions that enhance productivity across a variety of industries, the release said.

Both programs will give students a chance to network and apply their knowledge in real-world settings through structured work experience.

After completing the programs, graduates will have skills for roles such as data analyst, AI technologist, machine learning specialist, and business intelligence analyst.

Applications are now open for the programs.
