Social equity cannabis companies to be showcased at N.J.’s largest business conference Oct. 12

For NJ Cannabis Insider’s Oct. 12 conference, we have partnered with Holistic Solutions Dispensary in South Jersey to put a spotlight on several social equity businesses helping to shape the state’s cannabis market.

In New Jersey, social equity in the cannabis space refers to the state’s efforts to repair the damage done to marginalized communities and individuals who were disproportionately affected by cannabis prohibition. This includes prioritizing business license applications from Social Equity-designated businesses, which are owned by people who have lived in an Economically Disadvantaged Area of the state or who have convictions for cannabis-related offenses

The Social Equity Discovery Area presented by Holistic Solutions, will feature the following social equity and minority-owned companies at NJ Cannabis Insider’s all-day conference:

  • Roll Up Life, a East Orange-based delivery company founded by Tiyahnn Bryant and Precious Osagie-Erese
  • Prolific Growhouse, a recreational cannabis cultivation company based in Mount Holly, founded by David Nicolas
  • AC Leef, a soon-to-open dispensary in Atlantic City founded by Miguel Lugo and Chris Aponte

“Social equity is very important to me, and I’m proud to sponsor the Social Equity Discovery Area,” said Suzan Nickelson, founder and CEO of Holistic Solutions. “I want to see the business people who were hurt by the drug war to thrive in New Jersey’s cannabis marketplace.”

Holistic Solutions made history during Black History Month this year, when it became the first Black-owned medical cannabis store to open in New Jersey. The South Jersey dispensary, at 451 White Horse Pike in Atco in Camden County, made history again this year after opening for adult-use consumers on May 6. The dispensary features women- and BIPOC-owned cannabis brands.

The Oct. 12 conference at the DoubleTree Hotel at the Newark Airport is New Jersey’s premier B2B cannabis business conference and networking event. The event will offer informational and actionable “CannaTalks” and panels, featuring nearly 30 speakers and more than 40 vendors. Purchase tickets here.

A special speed-networking sessions to connect with the right people to help your business grow and thrive is programmed during the middle of the event.

Doors open at 9 a.m. with the keynote speaker opening the all-day event at 10 a.m. The conference ends at 5 p.m. Attendees can join an official after party later that night. Tickets ($295) arelimited for the conference. A select number of discounted tickets were made available for social equity applicants and NJ Cannabis Insider partners.
