Bojan Trpcevski is operations manager at Hibernica Dispensary in the Bronx. He answered eight simple questions for NY Cannabis Insider’s “People to know” series.
What is your position and what do you/your company do in the cannabis space?
I’m operations manager at Hibernica Dispensary in the Bronx.
How long have you worked in the cannabis space?
Since April 2024 in NYC, but I grew for a couple years in northern California, so I am familiar with growing cannabis as well.
What did you do before you were involved in the cannabis industry?
My first love is Archeology. I was an excavator and practicing archeologist for many years in Macedonia, until I came to NYC in 2013. I started working in restaurants and bars with friends of mine and grew in the hospitality industry from there.
What led you to the cannabis industry?
My best friend from childhood, Dragan, applied and was granted a CAURD license for the Bronx. He asked if I would be up to the task of running operations and keeping order.
Do you have any advice for someone looking to get into the NY weed industry?
Eat meals when you are supposed to eat meals and hydrate! Cannabis in NYC is a fast-paced, nonstop rollercoaster of excitement and complications, so make sure to take care of yourself. It is easy to get swept up and realize you’ve worked all day on only coffee.
What do you think the NY cannabis ecosystem will look like in five years?
That’s the beauty of the NY cannabis space—it is NY, so the possibilities are endless! Knowing how innovative New Yorkers are, I expect this industry — specifically in this state — to revolutionize how we see cannabis across the country.
Do you use cannabis? If so, what’s your favorite method and why?
Yes I do. I prefer to smoke joints and have a lot of respect for the delicate efforts that go into growing and then rolling premium flower. I enjoy sparking one when I get home after a long day, it really helps settle my mind and relax my body. Really helps me decompress and stay present with my family at home when I am there.
