Cotati celebrated its community’s ancestors with an event featuring altars, music, and food on Sunday.

The “Almas Vivas: A Day of the Dead Celebration” marked Cotati’s first Día de Muertos event, organizers said.

“This will be an annual celebration,” lead organizer Rocio Alvarez said. “This first event serves as a startup for future gatherings.”

Almas Vivas, sponsored by the city and local businesses, took place at La Plaza Park from noon to 5 p.m.
