The actresses tapped to portray the women married to The Fab Four have officially been revealed for the upcoming Beatles biopics directed by Oscar winner Sam Mendes.
Producers of âThe Beatles â A Four-Film Cinematic Eventâ announced on Friday that âShogunâ star Anna Sawai will play John Lennonâs wife, Yoko Ono; âWhite Lotusâ actress Aimee Lou Wood will star as George Harrisonâs first wife, model Pattie Boyd; and âVampire Academyâ alum Mia McKenna-Bruce will play Ringo Starrâs first wife, hairdresser Maureen Starkey.
The trio join four-time Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan, who was previously announced to be taking on the role of Paul McCartneyâs wife, celebrated photographer Linda McCartney.
âMaureen, Linda, Yoko and Pattie are four fascinating and unique figures in their own right â and Iâm thrilled that weâve managed to persuade four of the most talented women working in film today to join this amazing adventure,â Mendes said in a statement.
Back in April, the director behind acclaimed works like âAmerican Beauty,â âRoad to Perditionâ and the James Bond films âSkyfallâ and âSpectreâ announced the leading men who will play the iconic group.
âBabygirlâ star Harris Dickinson has been cast as Lennon, while Barry Keoghan will be drumming as Starr. âGladiator IIâ co-stars Paul Mescal and Joseph Quinn will take on the respective roles of McCartney and Harrison.
The intersecting movies â each focusing on a different member of the Fab Four and providing viewers a peek inside the unique perspective of each musician â are reportedly slated to be released âin proximityâ to each other beginning in April 2028.
Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman has described the massive project as the âfirst bingeable theatrical experience.â It will also mark the first time the Beatles have granted the rights to their life stories and music for the big screen.
