A new full-service beauty lounge will open this monthin Santa Rosa’s Railroad Square for those looking for a little glamor and pampering.

Modern Luxe Lounge on Wilson Street is owned by Masara Miramontez who says she intends to create a unique place with a modern look that doesn’t feel intimidating to her clients, but helps them embrace their own beauty.

“I wanted to create a space that’s different – not just another salon or studio but a brand that creates artistry and community and empowerment,” Miramontez said.

Miramontez has worked in the beauty industry for over 20 years. She grew up in Los Angeles hanging out backstage at the theaters where her aunt worked, watching stage makeup being applied. She fell in love with the experience and became the go-to person who did her friends’ makeup in high school.

Ten years ago, she started her own company called Makeup by Masara. With the help of her team, Jules Page and Maddie Graham, they did wedding makeup for brides and other special events.

When she first moved to Sonoma County, Miramontez worked at Contour Bridal. Owner and best friend Taylor Klevins said she was excited for Miramontez to launch her own beauty lounge and believes her friend was “born to do something like this.”

“I think it’s going to bring a place of confidence and beauty and comfort and kindness to an industry that can sometimes be the opposite,” Klevins said. “I think that she’s going to be able to bring in kind of a home feeling to this type of industry.”

Klevins said Miramontez has her own recognizable style of makeup artistry that focuses on enhancing her clients’ natural beauty, while still creating striking looks.

Anisya Fritz has been a client of Miramontez for about 5 years. She said the makeup artist always helps her feel confident.

“I think she’s a dynamo and I believe she will be successful,” Fritz said. “I think she’s just exceptional at her job. She makes you feel very comfortable.”

Miramontez said her beauty lounge will include hair, skincare and makeup services and her colleagues Page and Graham will be there, too. She said she plans to create a space that feels like “luxury without ego.”

The lounge will hold its soft opening Nov. 11 and its grand opening is scheduled for January. Miramontez said she hopes in the future to have her own makeup line and possibly more stores. She also wants to hold workshops for teenage girls and do something to give back to the community as a way to show her gratitude for its support.

“This has been the backdrop of my story and the reason I keep dreaming bigger. Modern Luxe Lounge is my love letter to this community and it is rooted in gratitude, growth and glam with purpose. We’re here to redefine beauty.”
