Thousands of Santa Rosa residents lost power Tuesday afternoon after a vehicle crashed into a power pole on Piner Road near Marlow Road, according to the Santa Rosa Fire Department.
The collision caused an outage affecting more than 6,000 Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers — roughly 15,000 to 20,000 people, officials said. By 2 p.m., power had been restored to most customers, though about 300 remained without service.
Repair work on the damaged pole forced the closure of the Piner and Marlow intersection, which was expected to remain shut for several hours, police said.
A Pacific Gas and Electric Co. spokesperson could not be reached Tuesday afternoon for additional information.
