GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Acrisure, a global financial technology and insurance company based in Grand Rapids, is laying off thousands of workers.
Starting Wednesday and continuing into 2027, 2,250 employees, or 11% of the company’s total workforce, are expected to lose their jobs, according to a letter sent to employees by CEO Greg Williams.
“We will be reducing our headcount by approximately 2,250 roles,” Williams said. “This decision affects colleagues who have contributed meaningfully to building Acrisure, and was not taken lightly.”
Williams cited technology, AI and digital platforms as the reason for the layoffs. He adds that advances in those areas are “changing how businesses operate, how clients expect to be served and how value is created.”

“We made our first scaled Al investment in 2020, and as other lead organizations accelerate in this direction. we must continue to push the pace,” Williams said. “We have seen client-oriented work that took days or weeks reduced to minutes. We need more of this thinking and broader adoption across the company…”
According to Williams, the company will be focusing on combining human expertise with technology platforms.
They’ll also be using AI, data and automation to reduce manual work and create faster, consistent outcomes, and look to build capabilities that help workers not only serve their clients, but each other.
“Leveraging technology must be the core of how we operate, how we grow, and how we deliver value to clients every day,” Williams said.
Previously, Acrisure had planned to lay off about 400 jobs in their accounting department, with 200 based in Grand Rapids, a company spokesperson told News Channel 3 in October.
Fast forward to Friday, Grand Rapids’ newest venue, Acrisure Amphitheater, opened and hosted its very first show. This comes three years after the company secured the naming rights for the 12,000 seat venue in Sept. 2025 with a $30 million gift.
