“It’s definitely coming for us, but the technology is still in its infancy. The stakes are way higher when it’s an $80K vehicle, and some of the places where I pick up and drop off require too much critical thinking/spatial awareness/binocular vision for a robot.
So many distribution centers aren’t built out in ways automated drivers can handle, let alone local retail outlets. We’re not safe by any stretch, but we’ll have to rebuild much of the physical infrastructure before automation takes over.
Thankfully, I’ll be retired by then.”
